His playing can also be heard on the soundtracks of various movies and television shows such as Malcolm in the Middle, Boston Public, Ally McBeal and others.

Touring internationally, he has opened concerts for the likes of Herbie Hancock, Sonny Rollins, James Ingram and Marcus Miller to name a few. He keeps a busy freelance recording and performance schedule, and is also writing and recording music for several projects including Hearnow.

Chris Haller, 7-String Tap Bass

Chris has played with such Jazz and Pop artists as James Newton, Eddie Harris, Sony Bono, Billy Eckstein, Helen Forrest, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Diane Reeves, The Coasters, Prince Diabaté and Dan Fogelberg.

He plays his Bass like a Hammond B3 Organ, kickin’ bass lines along with chords and melodies, with his left hand bass locking with the groove of the Drums while his right might lay down chords under a Guitar solo. He calls it “Tap Bass”, because that’s the technique he uses to get contrapuntal on us; tapping (instead of plucking) the strings on his Bass to get those notes he wants. “The groove is the most important thing” says Haller, smiling at the thought.
